Remember his words, Celebrate his life…

This Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.

Remember his words,  Celebrate his life…

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Mr. King We need you now more than ever !

WILKES-BARRE - Police said they arrested a man after he allegedly aimed a handgun at a motorist and damaging vehicles by stealing wiper blades early Wednesday morning. Michael Monkowski leaves district court after being charged for threatening a motorist with a pellet gun.
Michael Lawrence Monkowski, 35, of Jones Street, Wilkes-Barre, was captured hiding in a rear yard on Murray Street just after midnight. Police said they followed shoe prints in snow that led to Monkowski's capture.
According to police and the criminal complaint: Kyle Kogoy told police he was driving on Murray Street and saw a man, identified as Monkowski, pulling windshield wipers off several vehicles, and punching car windows as he walked.
Kogoy said he stopped his vehicle when Monkowski asked for a ride. Kogoy refused and Monkowski attempted to open his car door, the criminal complaint says.
Kogoy began to drive away and saw Monkowski pull a pistol that he aimed at his vehicle. Kogoy drove to a house and called police. While looking out a window, Kogoy claimed Monkowski stood in the roadway aiming the pistol at him, according to the criminal complaint.
Monkowski was arraigned by Senior District Judge Andrew Barilla on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
Police said the handgun was a pellet gun. In an unrelated case, Monkowski was released from the county prison on Dec. 30 when his bail on robbery and assault charges was modified. Hazleton police accused Monkowski for allegedly assaulting and robbing a woman on Nov. 30, according to arrest records. Monkowski was jailed for about a month on $35,000 straight bail, which was modified to unsecured bail on Dec. 30.

Bail Modified  ???  Just wonderful...

Gun pointed at woman during W-B home invasion
 - bob kalinowski
Wilkes-Barre police say a man pointed a handgun at a woman's chest during a home invasion Tuesday morning at 5 N. Sherman St.
The victim, Elizabeth Breish, said two males forced entry into her apartment around 1:30 a.m. and approached her. One pulled a gun and demanded prescription medication. She handed over several tablets and the suspects fled.
Breish told police one of the males had a stocking over his face, while the other hid his face with a glove.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call city police at 570-826-8106.

I personally hear this call. It was in the City Heights High Rise. The poor woman said they stole her cancer medication!  More than likely pain meds.  She also said she might know who they are.
From what I have read many crimes are committed by persons known to them..... many times in the case of the elderly, it can be their  seniors friend’s family members who knows a lot about them.
It is so sad.  .  They should be treated with respect and not live in fear.

‎1/12-3:16PM - A police officer pulls over a car on North Sherman street, across from Coal street park. The suspect in the car took off running, throwing a gun on top of a building in Coal street park, while running. Officers caught the suspect shortly afterwards and firetrucks were called to scene to retrieve the gun from the roof.
