failed to pay and guess what ???

Home invasion with a gun.   These guys don’t fool around.

Neighbors were horrified.

For the past 2 years we have been reporting this fine

fellow to the local authorities to no avail.

12:30 Sunday morning, several reports of shots fired

 around Prospect Street. A white Cadillac involved

Casings were found.  

And in the meantime…the usual drunkin fights continue downtown!

Then .. I get calls... lots of calls.. day and night.

Around 10:30 on a Friday night I got this call from neighbors that they found a cell phone . O.K.

Then they told me there were some real weird pictures on the phone and they wanted it out of their house because there might be a GPS on it and they wanted me to take it.

I did and wow.. pictures of thousand dollars on the phone along with pictures of people and their cars.

I did not want to wait until morning so I took it to the proper authority’s right then.

I just could not believe it…  why would anyone take pictures

of all that money !

I was told it was drug money and they like to show it off.

 Surprise to them if they had a GPS because I am sure

 they did not like where it landed up… more to follow on this.

Then.. you all remember James Michael Hughes ?

Mister six months home confinement man I went nuts over in February.

Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – A man who said that two men stabbed him allegedly used another person’s identity at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, police said.  James Michael Hughes, 21, last known address as State Street, Nanticoke, was arraigned Thursday on charges of identity theft and providing false identification to law enforcement. He was jailed at the county prison for lack of $10,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:  Hughes arrived at the hospital on Jan. 24 saying he was stabbed by two men on Hazle Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Hughes identified himself at the hospital as 25-year-old Thomas Segeda.

Police said in the criminal complaint that Hughes provided vague information about the stabbing and identified himself to officers as Segeda.  Published reports of the stabbing prompted a response from Thomas Segeda, who contacted police on Jan. 25. He told police that his wallet with his driver’s license was either lost or stolen, and he had received phone calls from friends about the stabbing.

Court brief

WILKES-BARRE – A man charged with assaulting a paramedic and police officer in October 2009 was sentenced Monday to two years in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program. James Michael Hughes, 22, with a last known address of State Street, Wilkes-Barre, was sentenced on charges of simple assault, public drunkenness and harassment, as well as an unrelated charge of possession of a controlled substance by Luzerne County Senior Judge Joseph Augello.

Augello said Hughes will serve the first six months on house arrest followed by one-year probation. Hughes must serve his sentence consecutively to another house arrest sentence he received last year on unrelated possession with intent to deliver and theft by unlawful taking charges.

Cops check on report of man banging on doors; arrest fugitive

HANOVER TWP. – A woman at the bar apparently had no interest in the man from Nanticoke -- but police did.

James Michael Hughes told township police he was with a woman at Mugs and Jugs Bar on Oxford Street early Wednesday morning, according to the criminal complaint, when the woman left and did not return. Hughes, 22, of East State Street, said he walked to an apartment complex looking for friends and a place to stay early Wednesday morning.

Township police encountered Hughes while investigating a report of a suspicious man banging on doors at Marion Terrace Apartments on Mark Drive around 2:30 a.m.

According to the latest criminal complaint: Police said the banging led to the capture of fugitive Hughes, who was wanted by the Luzerne County sheriffs and adult probation departments for missing a court hearing and violating probation.

After his capture, police said, Hughes used another name to hide his true identity. (Surprise, surprise!)

He was allegedly found in possession of a pill that he did not have a prescription for.

Hughes was arraigned in Wilkes-Barre Central Court on charges of giving false identification to law enforcement, disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.

According to court records, Hughes was sentenced Feb. 7 to 36 months probation with the first six months on house arrest on charges of simple assault and possession of a controlled substance. Those charges involved allegations that Hughes assaulted two township police officers and a paramedic on Oct. 23, 2009, and was in possession of heroin during a traffic stop in Wilkes-Barre on May 7, 2010.

In an unrelated case, Hughes was wanted by the county Sheriff’s Department on a warrant accusing him of skipping a preliminary hearing on March 29 on felony assault charges, according to arrest and court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on April 19 before District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township.

Then last week I get a call…

From a Senior Crime Watch member on Dana Street.

 She told me she did not know what to do. She was having a hard time because her car and a few other cars on the street were hit and totaled at 4 o’clock in the morning by some guy who stole a car.

Her insurance company was giving her a hard time. She wanted to know what to do.

You’ll never, never guess who it was driving the stolen car ….

Go ahead Guess…

Mr. James Michael Hughes !

Unbelievable !  She will never get her money from him.

We just called the County Prison right now and he is in there!   

I hope they keep him there for a long time !!!!!

Moral of the story..

 Election is coming up..5 or 6 Judges Seats are up for election.

Please study them! We need tough Judges. Ask a Police Officer. They know who are good choices.

When I was young… in the stone age…

I remember lots of commercials by the

“Partnership for a Drug-Free America”.

I thought they were dumb at the time…

but I still remember them so they worked.

You probably remember them too and if you don’t that’s too bad.

That was when Americans were angry about drug use.

Now there is just apathy.  It is sad.

I don’t watch T.V. … we still have a 25 year old Zenith
console T.V.

The picture is orange but the cats like

 to sit on the top of it and look out the window.

But, I do know people who do watch T.V. and they told me there really aren’t any more good ads on concerning drug use like their used to be.

4/3-1:49PM - Wilkes Barre Twp police had a retail theft from Walmart, of 10 boxes of Crest white strips. The vehicle involved came back to 402 South Sherman street in the city, Wilkes Barre Twp cops got on scene and requested city police because a female was harboring the male involved in the theft. ( Big Money they are !)

4/2-11:37PM - 26 Larch Lane, break in to residence, items missing.

4/2-9:58PM - Parking lot behind Ramada, car broken into.

3/31-8:36PM - 42 Aries street, vehicle broken into.

3/29-11:35PM - 125 Park Ave, former tenant trespassing, smashed out window at location.

 4/1 - Window on closed tavern on Chestnut Street broken tonight for 2nd time. Attempted robbery 10:30. Then at 12 a.m. door and window broken at tavern up the hill on N. Main Street .  Attempted robbery. Both times neighbors called police. Same suspect… older man, balding on top, glasses and gray hoodie.

‎3/30-9:31PM - Burglar alarm going off, Main Hardware on South Main street, door smashed, white male seen running out.
White male, short light colored hair, blue jacket, blue jeans, 30-40 years of age.

This is a true story…

A Crime Watch member’s significant other came home from work to find a note in his mailbox with a phone number on it saying that they have his income tax check.   If he wanted it he should call that number.

He lives off of Park Ave.

He called the number and the person told him he could get his check off them if he came to their house which was located in the Heights.

Without thinking he went to get it… just relieved to get his check.

When he arrived they asked him for money !

He gave them some and he took the check.

A few minutes later his phone rang again .. it was the person who had his check asking for MORE money !

He then went to the police and Post Office. They are looking into it.

The strange thing is the names of the streets are different and the house numbers are not even similar.

When I was told the address of the house he went to I was very suspicious because it is a known drug house. The guy who had the check was recently arrested for selling drugs at a park in Kingston.

I have to wonder if someone is taking checks out of mailboxes and extorting money out of people.

Beware… report it to the Watch Commander at the police station if this happens to you or anyone you know. Do not go and get the check… let the authorities do it !

• A 12-year-old girl told police a man in his 20s followed her and exposed himself while yelling sexual remarks to her in the area of Courtright Street. The man is described as white, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, thin build, fair complexion, wearing blue jeans, black jacket and a black skull cap with a silver design.

McLean Street - cut wires to a security camera that is mounted on the front porch of her house.

A woman said she was assaulted by three females at the Sherman Hills apartment complex Saturday night.

South Welles Street -  TFMV-. cell phone and money bag were missing, with an overall loss of an estimated $450.

Robbery- three men approached a woman, grabbed her by the arm, knocked her to the ground and took her money at in the area of Carey Avenue and Alexander Street. The men were in their late teens to 20s, two wore dark clothes and the third wore a black skull cap.

North Washington Street – Burglary - home had been forcibly entered between 7 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. The front door was opened and a Marlin rifle, diamond ring, gold wedding band and opal ring were taken. The overall estimated cost of loss and damage was $1,820.

"Operation Identification"

in March

Crime Prevention Officer, Phil Meyers, will be presenting the program "Operation Identification” at all Crime Watch meetings throughout the city in March.  Operation Identification is a program designed to discourage theft and recover stolen property in your neighborhood by identifying, marking, and listing your valuable items or property.

This effort acts as a direct deterrent to theft because stolen items bearing etched identification numbers are more difficult to sell, easily recoverable and can be linked with specific burglaries, making prosecution more likely.

Residents bringing their smaller items to the meetings such as tools, electronic games, cameras, etc. will be etched for identification purposes.

A resident from Rolling Mill Hills called 911 because they seen something they felt was suspicious… 

And they were right.

Two guys going into an empty building with tools.. on a sunny afternoon.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

• Police charged Paul David Roper, of 164 Nicholson St., with receiving stolen property Friday.

Police responding to a report of two males entering Great Northern Press, 181 Gilligan St., at 1:29 p.m. found Roper in a wooded area adjacent to the building pushing a cart and in possession of pipe fittings, police said. Roper admitted to entering the property but said he thought the pipe fittings were abandoned, police said.
